A few tips and tricks to maintain and prolong your driveways life expectancy.
To make things “Long Story Short”, there’s three things that you, homeowners, can do to keep your driveway looking clean and in good condition.
The first thing you’ll want to do is to give your driveway a good wash. Pressure washers are usually the best way to go about it. Wintertime allows for salts and vehicle exhausts to gather on driveways, causing deterioration and cracks. Giving it a good wash will prevent further damages. For the driveways that have already begun cracking, fillers are available to fix these imperfections. You should definitely fix these at first sight, considering cracks will only expand with time.
Allowing cracks to sit through another winter will cause water to freeze within the cracks, causing even more damage. Lastly, for all the “Die Hards”, sealers can be applied to prolong the life expectancy even more. A sealers purpose is to protect against water penetration and add a finishing glow to the driveway. Sealers are fairly easy to apply, but can be done by professionals if you’re unsure. Driveway maintenance may not be the most exhilarating way to spend your Sunday Funday, but… Think re-sale value, or kids skateboarding in the front yard. Clean driveways are always added value!
